Is there any news on Tesla, such as an updated timeframe for (beta-) release?

Cheers

Tesla feature requests

If this is the wrong forum for this, moderators please move this post to the correct forum.

As a long time Modeler user, the number one thing I’d like to see implemented is the ability to take a paste from Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop paths. It would be very helpful to create a path in illustrator or a selection turned into a path in photoshop, then integrate it into Modeler. I’d love to take type layouts done by our design department and extrude, bevel or lathe it quickly.

I’d also love to see a camera map modeler that simply projects a texture while modeling. It would have to have to be able to project using real world camera data such as horizontal field of view. If you had camera location data including some measurements of the potential virtual set, you could scale and place your geometry based on where the image is hitting it. It would make it easy to quickly set up a scene and export it with a null at the camera location into a scene that could then be easily set up to work with motion capture data. It would also make it easier to set up proxy objects for shadow passes based on the added digital models in Animator.

Whatever

I’m very curious about it.
Can anybody tell me something about release date, new thrilling features, price etc?

Renderama 7.0.1 and Slave Addresses

According to the Renderama manual, slaves are added via their IP addresses (eg 192.168.1.10).
Previous versions of Rama could usually resolve a domain name (eg cherry.mydomain.com) into
the IP address, but this was not a supported feature and was not tested when we rewrote the guts
of Rama for version 7.0.1 to get around the Leopard bugs.

Therefore, please make sure you are using the IP address of your slave and not the domain name.
Customers using domain names instead have reported that Rama master will crash when a slave is
not available on the network.

Renderama 7.0.1 on Mac Pro

The Mac Pro has two different ethernet ports. If you are having problems where the
Slave reports an incorrect IP address or quits on launch, please plug your ethernet
cable into the other port.

OS X Leopard

It has been reported that Leopard causes Renderama to lose the connection after the first frame is rendered. In the
past, these issues have been caused by bugs in the OS itself. We will be investigating but it is unlikely we will have
an “instant” solution to this issue. Please hang on to your OS 10.4 partitions if you intend to use Renderama.

Rodeo Sample Project Error

The sample project that comes with the Rodeo Docs has a small problem. The name of the project is “basic_setup.prj”.

The teapot has a custom link (See Joint Editor of Animator) and locked rotations… Set the Joint of the teapot to “free” and it works as it was intended.

Anti-Virus under OS X

Our readme states that Norton Anti-Virus prevents Camera from operating properly. Many of you have asked what program should be used instead to scan for and remove virii from your Macs.

Please consider http://www.intego.com/virusbarrier/

Bad Symbols in File Paths

Animator may have trouble saving project files if the drive name/folder/subfolder/file name (project, fact, texture)
contain path symbols. Please refrain from using these symbols:

/
:

You will likely be able to load projects along the path but Animator will not be able to save
the project.

The Anisotropic Shader included with 6.6 and 6.6.1 didn’t produce identical results to the version with 6.5 and before.
A replacement has been posted the downloads page. Please update if you are running 6.6/6.6.1 on a PPC or Mactel.
