if EI fix the world coordinate to imported model, and “stick” the texture to all group, that would be nice…

Hi, Loon, Richard

2. the master material with world coordinate won’t “stick” the texture to the group, richard can’t animate the puzzle with this

True (same as it does not work for models without UVs). Well, we wrote a plug-in to create UV and sent it to you. It’s a freebie so you can share it as you want. Find a minute to read a small doc inside archive wink

The price to pay is a slow redraw every time you move something when groups are connected to the CreateUVs Plugin.
So, link the groups to the Plugin only when you are ready to render…

Thanks everyone for clearing up that pasting behavior.  I always wondered why the image kept the position sometimes, and other times it realigned.  A very helpful insight.

Love the animation Richard.

And thank you Igors, for more of your collective programming time.  It is very much appreciated.

Not to speak for Richard, but it made it to the user gallery.  It is a nice contribution, and here’s the link.

Thanks Yon for answering, I was taking my yearly bath…

ednumber0, I had a server problem, the original link should work now.

I don’t believe in secrets, I believe in sharing. And in Rodeo…
The animation you see is time reversed and upside down…
I started with the puzzle completed on the table, covered it with a thin “cube”, turned everything upside down including the camera. All the pieces are linked to Rodeo, as I slowly slide the “cube” the pieces start falling down. Uncheck the “cube” in the final render so you don’t see it… Finally you just time reverse the animation in AfterEffects to get the final result. Easy as pie…

The real problem was texturing the 400 pieces as one… Thanks to the Igors, it’s a snap with CreateUVs.

If you want to play with it, tomorrow I will add the project to this thread. It’s not with me right now.

ednumber0, I had lost the final Project so I built a smaller one with a similar setup.
You can go a lot fancier with this but it will give you the basic idea.

The “secret” behind the jigsaw puzzle animation: http://www.rdn.qc.ca/eias/JigsawSmall.jpg

The project to study and play with: http://www.rdn.qc.ca/eias/Jigsaw.zip

After rendering I reversed the time in AfterEffects so it plays backward, dropping the pieces on the table.

Enjoy!
