I have an ubershape plane. I have mapped some text on to it with a mask. (image format)
I load it into the diffuse channel, and the geometry, clipping map area set to 1.
it seems to work but the darn plane keeps showing up in reflections. I want reflections for the text, but NOT the plane itself. Anyone know how to get rid of the plane in the reflection?
I still cant get it too work properly. This is so simple ‘in practice’ this is a major bug as far as Im concerned
unless I am not setting things right.
Scott, maybe I don’t get it right but you want the text to reflect and not the plane it’s sitting on.
For me, the alpha channel placed either in the clipping map geometry tab or in the transparency one, I get the same result...?
Check the project:
http://www.rdn.qc.ca/eias/reflexion.zip
The left image has no clip nor transparency - on the right it’s with clipping OR transparency
thanks richard, im just going to have to hit the hay tonight not knowing why
it wont work. I read another thread on clipping path issues, but different than mine.
There is only one rational answer for your Q (same as for many others): PLEASE POST A SAMPLE PRJ
If your prj is big enough - simplify it (often user has found the prob himself during this procedure).
Scott, have you tried rendering my project with either clipping or transparency on to see if it’s what you want? You should get the image on the right with either of them. My project should be working on your machine, it will help you investigate where the culprit is.
Igors, I emailed you the file. I cant seem to find how to post it on this forum.
.....
its embarrassing for me to be able to create some pretty complex animations yet struggle with some of
this web stuff. As I am becoming much more web ‘active’ so to speak, Im sure I will figure much of this out.
for now, I feel like my parents
Scott, if you’re slow, I’m stopped… It is supposed to give you the result you want. Could you please send me a picture of the resulting render with the project I sent. I want to see what you get.
