Just wanted to comment on my Square Peg- Round Hole answer. I think this is going to be a popular one wink
Maybe some other people will want to chime in with some details as well.

I have done some Archvis (mostly retail interior) as well as other types of design visualization including Industrial Design (lots of retail store fixtures, but some “product design” as well).

I use it for Motion Graphics but personally i will like to use it for VFX and character animation. But i am getting there, little by little. Still leaning the tools and the advanced rendering features that for Mographers come in handy.I am using the morph editor to extrude polys, and simple character animation to animate logos or any other element that belongs to these particular logo. So now to put them apart on a list is so hard to choose which one.
The feature that i mostly use is Camera Mapping, i will like an animate along a path type of thing for Camera.Where you have your path and a rail for the up vector,

Wups, sorry Dave, I did have a product design box originally but for some reason I deleted it wink Please forgive me!! smile

When it comes for using EIAS for multiple disciplines, I also do a bit of CA (more by the day) and some of what I would put in to the VFX section, however I make the most money doing Arch Vis, so that’s where my vote went, yet, I too wish you could pick more then one box smile

Same thing with the “Square Peg- Round Hole”. I do (at about 95%) illustrations for user’s manuals, only *very* rarely animations for technical visualizations. The old problem mankind always had: who am I?

Scenic Design for theatre, opera, corporate events, theme parks, and film.

EIAS has made my career possible.  I started out with a T-square and an air brush, what a pain that was!

Hey Ian,

Hard to catagorize primary use very neatly so I used your square peg option. Got EI in 1995 for VFX since I had been transitioning my business into the digital realm since 1993 on Mac and because Strata Pro was too slow and buggy for the print work I was doing for a living and continue to do.

I think EIAS was the first desktop solution actually used for major motion picture visual effects in T2. I recall seeing an Ad in Cinefex. John Knoll’s support of EIAS also was a big influence in my purchase back then. It also didn’t hurt that I tried a demo version and was able to get it running comfortably in 15 minutes. Well designed and rock solid!

Since that time I’ve done some work in most of your catagories at one time or other and even some that are not listed. Most recently work has been in medical visualization for NAS, NIH, PBS, and Pharmaceutical companies.

I do whatever pays at the moment and for that purpose EIAS can pretty much still do it all and represents about 95% of what I typically want and about 99% of what I need in a 3D Package.

Hi, Ian
I begin with Character Animation, with EiAS 2.7 i think… i used it in Graphic/Print Design and Broadcast Design/ MoGraph since then and trying to go back to Character Animation with no so much luck now.
