Hi Dcrinnert,

That’s a Quicktime utility routine error, specifically “Cannot begin movie compression.”. It’s an OS error. I would try using another file format then .pct.

Best,
Ian

Hi Ian,

I just tried IMG format.  It rendered, but now my glows are solid instead of, well, glow-y.  They look fine when I render to a QT movie.  Don’t know how they look in PCT, since that never rendered.  wink

Thanks,
Dan

Hi Dan,

Sounds like you’ve viewing the glows with the alpha channel un-applied… Show us a screenshot smile

Best,
Ian

Hi Ian,

A-ha!  When I open it in Photoshop CS3, I need to check the box the says “Premultiply Image.”

Thanks!

Ian,
can you explain the whole pre-multiply thing.  It would be helpful to get it in plain english.
thanks,
Yon

Navstar,
There you go.
thanks,
Yon

“Premultiplied channels store transparency information in the alpha channel and also in the visible RGB channels, which are multiplied with a background color. The colors of semitransparent areas, such as feathered mask edges, are shifted toward the background color in proportion to their degree of transparency.” -Adobe
