Hi Matt, Igors, Ian et al

I’m resurrecting an old project file and have run into a problem at render time.

I’m getting a -35 error from Camera which then shows a path back to a different machine and the EIAS 6 application.

I know therefore its looking for a particular resource in that app folder that it needs but I’m not sure what it could be.

The project would not open in EIAS7 straight off. I opened it in 6.5, no problems, and then saved it without any particular changes. When I opened it in 7 it asked me for a variety of resources such as the shaders and sockets I’d used on the original. So I pointed it to the relevant locations in my 7 folder - it carried on opening fine.

I also went through all the resource files and changed any / symbols (which we used to use way back when it wasn’t an issue) and changed them to _ . It of course asked for all of these again which I duly pointed it towards.

BUT...I noticed it did not ask for many of the image files which I had changed. Could it be one of those files that its looking for ???

I suspect its something more embedded in the EIAS like another shader or socket but the project is large (105 meg prj) and it could take me some time to check each object and its texture to look for the relevant missing link.

Perhaps you could let me know if there’s a specific thing I should be looking for ?

Cheers

hang on a minute - its definitely a texture thing - unchecking the texture box allows it to render.

but it didn’t ask me to point it to many of the textures (quite a few of which I had to take out the / symbol. Any way of forcing it to look again perhaps ?

I know that problem very well, my solution is always:

Go (save) through the older versions of Ei till 7.0

So, when your prj is made with 2.9 then open and save in 4.0, then open and save in 5.5
and then open and save in 6.5 and so on, thats it for me.

Otherwise it only helps to retexture the models in 7.0, thats often a nogo for me.

Thanks for the reply Fantomaz - I just tried rendering out from the 6.5 version (which asked me for more of the texture files since I renamed them) and it came up with another error message -1409, again in the EIAS 6 folder. I shall persevere !

Regards

well slap me daft it worked - of course I should never doubt the master cool grin

Do I even want t know why that works ? I had to reinstall 4 again but it took me longer to find the disk than to fix the problem so I’m a happy camper.

It’s very dry, but I’ll tell you anyway.

There was a file referencing bug that was fixed in V6, unfortunately this broke all version 2.9 projects, the only way to update those was to open them in an OSX version of EI that still had the bug, and re-save, later versions could then understand the resulting project file.

I hope you didn’t fall asleep while reading that smile
