Can anyone tell me if we can import Poser files (".pz3" format) into Animator?  This topic was recently addressed but I can’t find it; maybe it was somewhere in the old forums.

Thanks in advance . . .

You can export an obj out of poser, EIAS should read it or you can put it through OBJ2FACT. I also think there is a plug in that lets you export fbx from poser as well.

Hi Umassmza,

Thanks for responding.  I should have elaborated that I was curious if, through some plugin, one could import an entire Poser project including the animation keyframes.

FBX would also bring in the animation data…

Thanks Ian.  There are a lot of features in EI I have never used, so I’m completely unfamiliar with them.  I’m going to have a look at FBX.

quick questions - what does fbx stand for?  who makes this plug-in?  is there a corresponding plug-in needed on the ei side to get this to work?  I’m experimenting with bringing in an .obj, and then importing the .bvh file i oupt from poser, but this process is plagued with inefficiency and issues.  a more complete import would be perfect, with the mesh, bones, and movement coming in and lined up properly…
