Placer Deposit question

Is it possible to use a Placer Deposit group as a stamp object inside another Placer Deposit group?

I can create it and it all shows up in Animator just like it should, but when it renders it just renders the one internal Placer group - I can swear I did this before, but I can’t remember how I did it.

thanks
brian

Hi bwcc,

I got a question related to Placer. Is it RAM hungry. I only have 1gb of RAM , have you tied to parent it to a proxy so it will save a lot of more memory. so i was wondering since i am looking at these plug in since 3 months now. Thanks.

It has two modes, and they use memory a little differently. This is from the manual.

“There are two types of Instancing Modes. Type 1 uses the plugin API’s Copy function and
is generally best for small numbers of complex stamp objects. Type 2 duplicates objects
polygon-by-polygon and vertex-by-vertex. The benefit is that the memory used by textures
and materials isn’t duplicated for each instance. This mode is best for create huge numbers
of simple objects such as grass or fur. This mode is also required in order to use the Bend
Deformation type.”

Placer is a great plugin. I have bought several plugins, Placer and Dante are the only ones I use on a regular basis.

Hi Brian,
smile that is why evryone loves Camera with 16 GB of RAM .Wow. I have only 1gB in C4D it doesnt quit it keeps rendering slower but it keeps going if you add some replicators. WOW Mac Pro with 16 GB , a dream machine.

Thanks for sharing, Edgard

Hi Brian i hope you read these threads, i am about to go crazy here smile
well to the pint. I was wondering how many polys does camera calculates when you use Placer ? I know form what you have told me that it can replicates the same exact polys and triangles but that option is not convenient since i am running on out memory !gb is not enough for EI i know now. The other options seems like a winner for me i have a laptop and i about to get 2 gigs more so in your experience will that be enough ? I wish the developer could explain this to me.

Well thanks,anyways.
