Hi James,

The vote closes at the weekend, though, of course, I’ll pick up any straggler votes that get emailed to me. Enjoy your holiday sir!

Best,
Ian

If a feature wins the vote it’s implementation is guaranteed by EITG.

Just curious, what will happen to the widgets and brownies that lose the vote? If I understand correctly development time and -money has already been spent on them and certainly all proposed features are interesting enough, so it seems something of a waste to see them going down the drain… Will the losers be up for a second chance in V9?

Best!

Well, the response to the UP has so far been really positive, so… Why not do it again? wink

Best,
Ian

Well, I can only speak for myself but I sure hope this method of user participation will be repeated in the future.

Hello everyone,
very interesting topic and a nice way to have users taking part in the development process.
Now, there’s one feature that I’d really like to see implemented and that has never be mentioned (at least recently): having the option to automatically assign materials upon importing an updated model.
For instance, having the option to select an already textured model in the scene and assign materials to the updated one by matching object names. This would have to happen at import time. There could even be an option to select a material for new objects (with no matching name in the existing model).
While I love the ability of copying and pasting materials between objects, when you reach revision 8 of a project you start thinking there could be an easier way to do it than just copy and paste.
Not a rant, just the little one feature that would make my life so much better wink

Cheers
François

Hey François,

That sounds like a great feature, I will make sure we design it for the next User-Pack smile

Ian

PS. If it’s possible to do it that is…
