Hi Dominic!

I do not own Dante, so I can speak bout it.

The upgrade for plugs was due to the migration from PPC to UB. I don´t think We´ll have problems, plugs ported to UB and running ok will work on V8. I guess.

Well my friend lets hope for the best. Upto date all i hear is bad news from users of Northern Lights plug ins and this is not news is a known issue for years.
For Dominic i will look somewhere else , you can use C4D which is worth the investment for your work now they have 64bit support on the Mac,and is a whole in one plug in letting you do something more than pyroclusters , it is a combo of all the NL plugins into one.

Hi Ed
Thank you for your bold suggestion.
I respect your opinion…

I have few questions, I haven’t used C4D before..

1. How is the learning curve?
2. What about tech support?
3. Is there built-in modeler available (Just like 3ds Max)?
3. How abt the quality of final rendering?
4. I need it to use for HD 1024 x 576 format movies?

Hi Dominic,
Well my friend, try the Fire plug in. If it works for you fine. I cant comment in anything else other than if you have no luck with Dante than you learned a lesson.

Hi Everyone,

Ian is right about backward compatibility; sometime in the past Blair stated that if you create a project using “pre-UB” versions of both EIAS and Dante and you try to open that same project using the UB versions of EIAS and Dante, it will not work.

He also states (in his Dante manual or in an old forum posting; I forget where) that old versions of Dante will not work with Renderama.  I think his last pre-UB version of Dante can work with Renderama under special conditions.

I successfully use Dante in almost half of my projects.  Dante does require some effort and I am no expert in its use, but I have gotten great results with it.  I use it to create flaming, smoking trails behind asteroids burning up in Earth’s atmosphere.  I still use EIAS 6.5.2, the “pre-UB” version of Dante and Power Macs.

Hi Ed,
I think this is the best reply I have ever seen in EI forum.
I appreciate your frank comments and I love this.
I hope all EITG & Plugin developers will read this thread.

Honesty like me and you many users are ready to pay more to get more features.
EITG should consider this V8. Otherwise they will loose slowly all users and cease to get new users.

As you mentioned I too love camera and Animators ease of use.

However the biggest drawback is missing built-in modeler...hopefully V8 will fulfil this.
Many people love 3dS max studio bcz of following reasons:
a. lots of built-in plugin features.
b. Millons of online free sample files & books available.
c. 3DS format is almost considered as de-facto standard for models.
e. 3dMax modeler is also good. When I tried some bevel for fonts...FormZ and EI could not...but 3DMax did.

Hi DOminic,
I appreciate the words but i had to delete my message but is good you have read it. As i see it my intention is always mistaken, i have a lot of passion for EI and i want the product to succed i just find that they dont have enough money now to ask for your demands Dominic. In the meantime keep check for any possible reason, it all starts with the basic.
The beauty of EIAS is in Camera, cant beat that.

Thanks
Edgard

Hi Joe
The problem with NL, I contacted Blair many times...but no reply.
And all tutorial files have zero effect with UB version
If you dont have any kind of Technical support how can we get benefit out of it???
I think Blair doesnt want plugin business!!!!!!!!!

I too agree with you 100%. No doubt about it.
I must mention here...I am using EI from 2.8 ver. .... up to Universe 4.0.

Due to my change of profession..I was unable to use 3D applications for few years..
Recently I bought Mac Pro Octo 3.25Ghz / 6GB RAM, EIAS 7.0 and FormZ and supporting plugins.
I am always a Pro-Mac guy and EI lover....no second thought about it..
However I wish EITG & Plugin developers will share our feelings..
