Anyone having any luck with SimCloth(UB)?
It keeps hanging up on me when the simulation is finish and quits Animator.
When I reopen the project, the simulation is there but Camera has trouble rendering.
The deflector is OK but the Cloth renders every 2 or 3 frames…
Paralumino store is close right now (they are repainting the place...) so I can’t download a fresh copy.
The version I have is from a folder called SimCloth2EI and reads SimCloth 1.0 UB
I just want to make sure this is the latest version before testing further.

Wise guy… grin

If the plugin is defective I’ll keep a copy anyway for the “ghost” effect…

1. You are running on latest UB vers, there are no upgrades later 1.0

2. What to do:

a) check same project on PPC and tell us how it works there.

b) check params. First off, collision tolerance, be sure that nothing is intersected at animation begin (counting tolerance gap). Also try to change stretch/bend forces. In simple words SimCloth does “balance” all factors step by step. However, it’s possible to have/construct a situation when disbalance grows and grows and finally cloth is out of numeric precision.  Check cloth size frame by frame in Group Window, Info Tab. If it’s out of rational limits, so you’ve got such case.

c) if nothing can’t help please prepare a minimized prj and tell us a link to it.

Richard...the store is back up now and you can download fresh versions of Simcloth (all versions) without needing to register. Just go to the store and its on the main page.

Thanks Brian, I downloaded a fresh copy hoping mine was corrupted. I should have been so lucky…

Igors,

SimCloth(UB) often quits when I press “stop Record” or “Cancel” killing Animator with him.

Most of the time Animator quits after SimCloth(UB) completes calculation.

SimCloth(UB) behave identically (badly) on IntelMac(7.0.1) and PPC(7.0.0)

Camera renders the cloth object every 3 frames but render it’s shadow correctly when motion blur is ON.

Camera renders correctly with Motion blur OFF.

The SAME Projects rendered with original SimCloth on PPC Panther EI6.5.2 calculate and render without problem even with motion blur ON.

SimCloth(UB) display texture on non UV models, the original SimCloth did not.
The texture slips when the cloth is deformed. I will test with UV models.

We sent 1.1 (beta 1) to you and Brian. The changes are:

- fixed motion blur bug

- fixed bug with gnome files (now their sizes are significantly less)

- files statistics is displayed correctly in the plug-in interface.

- fixed texture probs appeared when a cloth group(s) has no UVs. In this case SimCloth just creates UVs as a copy of model coordinates (samas as CreateUV does)

- crashes when buttons pressed - no luck, we tested 15-20 times - have got no one crash. Please help to catch this one

The plug-in is freebie, so others beta-testers are also welcome. Please ask Brian for beta

Great job Igors!
Everything is working as it’s supposed to.

Motion blur render: perfect
Texture on groups without UVs: perfect
Gnome files? must be OK…

I still can crash it sometimes but I really have to go for it…
I have to press stop and go repeatedly 10 or 20 times and most of the time it keeps on going. Then all of a sudden, it crashes.
In my book, i would call it stable.

I will keep on testing and tell you if anything else need correction.

Many thanks!

Oh, if you have 5 minutes to loose, “wind” would be nice… wink

Yeap, we need beta-testers help to see it and fix

Oh, if you have 5 minutes to loose, “wind” would be nice… wink

wink IMO some things either should be done seriously or not touched at all. Wind should have a solid set of basic options, turbulence, a simplified collision detection (like no wind at back side of wall) etc. And it should be a “plug-in server” available for any plug-in client (as, btw, it’s in original SimCloth: it reads winds from host). So, sorry, but we’ve not such “5 minutes” wink
