I need to create a waving checkerboard flag. I am looking to have the turbulence of the flag surface ripple and undulate with the most realistic behavior and complexity. Of course I would like to be able to control wind strength and vectors. Can anybody point me in the best direction for tutorials or plug ins to accomplish this ?

Hi,

Go here: http://www.eitechnologygroup.com/support/support_form

And send a message asking for the ‘Flag’ plug-in. It’s currently in beta testing (2.0b1), but I’m sure you’ll be allowed a copy smile

Best,
Ian

I have put it in my request for the beta plug-in. I am eagerly awaiting a response.
What have people been doing for flag simulations up until now ? Will Rodeo compute a waving fabric ?

No...but Simcloth will.

http://www.paralumino.com

Go to the store and you can download the current version. If you want to be put on the beta test team for simcloth 1.1 use the contact sheet on the store and send me a message.

Has there been any progress on the Flag 2.0 beta? I’d love to see the PC version.

Playing with the free Flag plugin, I wanted to know more about the effect of the different settings.
So I made this animated reference chart. Hope it help you in setting up the “perfect” flag...!

That’s a very useful reference on flag settings. Thanks Richard.

Perhaps obscure settings for other parts of EIAS could be illustrated using the same technique (in EIAS v8 tutorials perhaps?). The technique is great because everything is immediately clear at a glance.

BTW, how did you create the QT? In After Effects?

All depends on “user’s interest” wink. When we hear a signal from beta-testers: “Ok, no more visible bugs/probs, let’s go with release” - we’ll build Flag 2.0 for all platforms and send it to Phil. Before this - only UB vers is available.

Hello Igors,
It’s my pleasure and thanks again for the plug.
Aziz,
All the flags animations rendered in real time and yes, it was assembled in AfterEffects.
