Hi all,

Is anyone using the Encage plug-in? If so:

Does it preview in the camera window or is it only evident on render?

How much is the render time affected? Substantially or just a little?

What I’m trying to find out is if it’s manageable on a dual core G5 and an Intel core duo?

Your help much appreciated!

Mat.

Hey Mat,

We’ve used it here quite a lot over the last couple of years. You get previews both in Animator and Camera, or just Camera, you choose.

Render time is affected by how many sub-divisions you do, with Encage you can create LOTS more polygons, or just a few more. Obviously the more polygons you create the longer the render time.

We have used it on G5 1.8ghz though to 8 core MacPros with no problems smile

Cheers Ian,

I think I’ll get it on the next job!

Just so I don’t have to take the scenic route back through modo then 0bj2fact etc. every time I feel I could do with a little more resolution. Might try some low poly stuff with it as well and get some normal maps out of modo.

Thanks for your help!

Mat.
