Okay, so I misunderstood the timeline a bit, and I wound up rendering 30 seconds at 24 fps for a total of 720 frames, when I thought I was going to be rendering 24 frames total. (2 seconds at 24 fps.)
Anyway, so Camera rendered 720 frames in maybe just a little more time than what it took Carrara 5 Pro to render 24 frames.
Granted, I used 2 lights in Carrara and just one in Animator, but still… And Camera rendered at 1440 x 900, while my Carrara render was set at 640x480.
All-in-all, pretty impressive. I will have to do a better comparison, using the same dimensions on both and the same number of lights and so on.
On second thought, Camera might have been faster. 16 minutes for the 720 frames, and I’m reasonably sure Carrara took longer than that.
So far, I’m glad I made the switch, though a Universal Manipulator would be nice…
