Multiple Objects to change transparency

I have an object with 400 separate parts.  I would like to change the transparency setting on 300 of them.  I’ve been using the project window, but I do not know how to change the setting when selecting multiple objects.  It is rather time consuming to change them individually, especially when the first estimate for the setting was not quite right… Many of the objects are of different materials, so I could change the material opacity, but I suspect there is a simple way to accomplish this.  Appreciate the help.

Hi Lee,

It would certainly be advisable to use an XP script for this, it might take a few minutes to set up but it’s the only way that comes immediately to mind.

I’ll set you up an example later today.
Best,
Ian

Hi Lee,

I usually solve such things with compositing. Render the scene with the objects and without and blend between the two clips. As long as you only need a simple fade without the necessity to actually see all backfaces of the objects getting transparent this is the easiest way to do so.

Thank you both.  I found Jens method easier simply due to the fact I am familiar with that method and not with xp scripts.  However, I will try the scripts method when I have a little more time to play and see Ian’s example.  Thanks again.
