Hi guys,

I’d like to make a nice fountain with power particle. almost like thos colomns of water shoots up. my problem is i can not make it to work. i placed the plugin set up the parameters and physics… and than what’s next. it sits there in the layer window. I’m in a bit of rush and never used it.
I would appriciate if somebody give me a brief idea how this plug-in works and pulls things together. the handbook/manual doesn’t explain how this comes togethere at the end.
I must have done something wrong or miss a step.

thanks in advance!
Mishi

hello there,
actually i figured out that it already animates it. but my question is, how do you make the particles bigger so it will read better. any suggestions for a column of water shoots upward?
Thanks

Hi Mishmish,

Are you using Power Particles Pro or Basic?

Sounds like Mac PowerPC / Windows PC you’re running on. So if you haven’t purchased the plugin, then yah.. its PP Basic. Basic will not support child objects as particles.. however what you can do is use Mr. Blobby and parent PP Basic to Mr. Blobby. Set Mr. Blobby to vertex and lower the resolution a bit, and it will convert the particles into something a little more to your liking.

You can also activate gravity which will make the fountain look like its collapsing back on itself at the top of the stream and you can tighten the emission deviation to concentrate the flow. In Mr. Blobby, in addition to lowering your resolution, decrease the vertex blob size and blob threshold settings.

Power Particles Pro is a Triple D product and a UB version for Mac/Intel is in the works. Its release date though is undetermined.

Just as a suggestion, you may want to put in as much randomness as possible by upping the +/- fields for particles per second, just so it’ll get some gushes in there.... if that’s what you’re going for.
