View Reducing noise in GI animations
Category:EIAS -> Working in EIAS -> Frequently Asked Questions
First, try reducing the GI sampling grid size to 4x4, the default is 8x8. This has more effect on noise then simply increasing the ray count.
If this does not help enough then try increasing the Colour Tolerance to something like 10.
Still no joy? Try the following:
Increase the primary rays.
Add more dirt maps to your materials as this hides artefacts.
Double and triple check your intensity, higher intensity sky light = More noise.
As a rule of thumb, the minimum rays you should consider using for an animation is 200.
When you render your GI ray count tests (checking to see if you have enough rays) remember to turn Anti-Aliasing off, this won’t affect you ability to tell if the animation is noisy but it will speed up the render by about 10x.
