View Spotlight lens effects

This is a simple trick for giving your spotlights that extra kick.
Of course, if you want to be ultra-realistic about this then you will want to use Caustics, but this ‘cheap trick’ will suffice for most situations.

Step 1: Inner cone offset
In your spotlight info window, check the “Inner Cone is offset.” box.
Then in the Inner Cone box enter “5” (degrees).
You can alter the Outer Cone to taste, the Inner Cone will keep its 5 degree offset.
This will give you smoother and more realistic looking spotlights.

Step 2: Add a projection
Go to you spotlight’s projection tab and click the “Enable Projection” checkbox.
Click the “Add” button
Add one of the simple gradients included in the file below, or make your own; more complex gradients work even better.
